Design and manufacturing processes have changed over time to meet the needs of consumers and businesses who expect newer and more efficient products. These factors can make-or-break the success of a product, which is why this industry requires companies that specialize in innovation, design and production. The City of Carlsbad represents a robust and diverse advanced engineering and manufacturing sector, which significantly contributes to our local economy. Take a look at the companies below who contribute to the exceptional work being done in this field.

Seacomp is a great example of a Carlsbad company that takes outsourced product design and development to the next level, showcasing the strength in Carlsbad’s ability to provide comprehensive manufacturing solutions. With a special focus on electronic components and systems, Seacomp supports businesses from design to full-scale production through a customizable process, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.

Another business doing great work in this sector is Argonaut Manufacturing Services, which offers vital fill-finish manufacturing that is essential for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Boosting their capacity to meet increasing demands, Argonaut recently received funding for a $45 million expansion in Carlsbad illustrating the value they continue to bring to the local manufacturing sector.

There are also a few exciting innovators that have recently expanded to Carlsbad, including Mercedes-Benz, which has established a presence in Carlsbad with its advanced design and engineering center. This facility supports the company’s North American operations, focusing on future automotive technologies and innovation.

Nordson Corporation expanded its footprint in Carlsbad as well, enhancing its ability to deliver precision technology solutions across many important industries including the medical, electronic and industrial sectors. Additionally, Gener8 has reorganized its Carlsbad facility to boost production capabilities, which will allow the company to accelerate project timelines and produce a greater amount of plastic consumables each year.

We’d also like to welcome Gilero – a specialist in medical device design and manufacturing – to Carlsbad. Their local facility offers advanced engineering support and prototyping capabilities, facilitating the journey from concept to market for medical devices.

Modus Advanced has also chosen Carlsbad for their new manufacturing facility, which enhances local capabilities with advanced machining, gasket dispensing and computer numerical control (CNC) cutting services. This facility will serve key clients like Viasat, which is known for its cutting-edge communications technology.

Carlsbad’s advanced engineering and manufacturing sector is a direct result of the city’s reputation as a hub for innovation and expertise. The presence of diverse and dynamic companies, ranging from established corporations to innovative newcomers, demonstrates Carlsbad’s strategic importance in the global manufacturing landscape.
