GOAL! LA Galaxy San Diego Futbol Team Calls Carlsbad Home

June 13, 2017

LA Galaxy San Diego, the newest member of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), is now headquartered in Carlsbad and will play its 2017 home games at the Army and Navy Academy at 2600 Carlsbad Blvd. The team’s home opener is Friday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. If you like high-caliber soccer, get your tickets and come see the team in action.

The team is coached by Greg LaPorte, formerly the associate head coach at the University of San Diego, and is primarily made up of current and recently graduated collegiate players. LA Galaxy SD is part of the WPSL PAC South conference which includes the San Diego Sea Lions, Phoenix del Sol, Strikers FC, FC Tucson and FC Pacific. Complete game schedule.

The WPSL team is operated and supported by the LA Galaxy San Diego club organization, which serves more than 4,000 youth from age four to 18. The non-profit organization offers a path for players to begin and continue their careers in the sport. The club is a perfect fit with Carlsbad’s active outdoor family lifestyle.

The move to Carlsbad was made possible through a working partnership between the club and local Carlsbad business, Processing Point. The company’s CEO, Chad Buckmaster, is a former coach with the club organization. Two other local companies, Baja Sessions Catering and Superfood Coffee Company, are helping kick off the season by providing food and beverage.

When you come out, be sure to take in the entire game-day experience including: prizes and swag, half-time entertainment, gourmet food and dessert, apparel and more. See you at the game.
