Doing Good in Carlsbad: The Season of Giving Back

The holidays bring joy and goodwill to us all. After all, ‘tis the season for giving – a spirit that many Carlsbad residents, workers and businesses take to heart. Local non-profit organizations embody this spirit every day, so as the holidays draw near, we are shining a light on three philanthropic organizations that are doing good work in our community: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, Solutions for Change and the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation. Their missions, efforts and impact are powerful reminders of the difference we can make by coming together in support of our local community and neighbors. 

The Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad has been a pillar of support for children and families in our community for years. Known for providing young people with important tools and opportunities to help them succeed and become responsible citizens, it is a trusted organization for local families. The Boys and Girls Club is actively involved in the community through their Giving Good opportunities program, offering multiple ways to get involved, from assembling backpacks for underprivileged students to organizing food pantries and campaigns for the senior community.

Another prominent organization that is making a big impact on the Carlsbad community is Solutions for Change. At its core, Solutions for Change works to break the cycle of family homelessness by equipping families with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to build independent and sustainable lives. They go beyond creating independent families by also working to enable these families to achieve their goals of having a successful career, purchasing a home, giving their kids a college education and securing a bright future. By supporting personalized family goals, Solutions for Change helps create strong, self-sufficient communities that stand the test of time. 

Finally, we all know and appreciate how beautiful our city is. One of the places that inspires residents and visitors alike is the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. An organization doing great work to maintain the beauty and preserve the watershed is the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation. This organization empowers its volunteers to participate in conservation activities like removing invasive plants that can be harmful to the local environment and intentionally planting native species in their place. Their goals include keeping the lagoon trail beautiful for all who use it while providing an opportunity for community members to come together and make a difference in our environment.  

These three organizations are at the heart of what makes Carlsbad a supportive and connected community. Whether through one of these organizations or one of the many others doing great work in Carlsbad, there are many opportunities to get involved, from volunteering your time and resources to raising awareness about an important cause to those within your personal and professional network. Our Carlsbad-focused philanthropic organizations provide opportunities for residents, workers and businesses to get involved.
