Local Partners Shaping Tomorrow’s Workforce

MiraCosta College

MiraCosta College plays a critical role in building our region’s talent pipeline. Through its Technology Career Institute (TCI), MiraCosta offers specialized industry training, including advanced manufacturing, engineering technologies, biotechnology, IT and cybersecurity, healthcare and skilled trades such as welding and HVAC, all designed to connect students directly to high growth jobs. TCI’s workforce preparation has earned recognition as an affordable model for career readiness. As a result, many Carlsbad employers partner with MiraCosta graduates to fill specialized roles and strengthen their teams for the future.

Cal State San Marcos (CSUSM) Extended Learning Program

Cal State San Marcos plays a key role in strengthening our region’s talent pipeline. The university enrolls more than 17,000 students across undergraduate and graduate programs and offers a wide range of academic disciplines, including 43 bachelor’s degree majors, 24 master’s programs and a joint doctoral program, creating a strong talent pipeline. Through its Extended Learning programs, the university offers flexible, workforce-focused training in high-demand fields like cybersecurity, IT certification, software development, project management and healthcare support. These online and accelerated programs help students gain practical skills quickly, giving local employers access to job-ready talent who can contribute on day one.

Carlsbad Job-Readiness Room

Carlsbad residents have access to a free program designed to build essential job skills needed by local employers. Through the Job-Readiness Room, entry-level job seekers can complete self-paced, online training focused on core workplace skills. These curated tracks are designed around in-demand skillsets expressed by Carlsbad key-industry employers.

This program is especially valuable for community members who may be re-entering the workforce, those facing barriers to employment, or anyone looking to strengthen their career readiness. The Job-Readiness Room is offered at no cost to job seekers and can be accessed at Carlsbad Libraries or on the library website.
