The Golf Lab: Where Sports Innovation Meets the Green
March 25, 2026
Carlsbad isn’t just a great place to play golf, it’s where the game is shaped. We are a global hub for golf, where innovation, world-class courses and leading brands come together to shape the future of the sport. From cutting-edge equipment to championship destinations, it all starts here.
It’s no accident that some of golf’s biggest ideas start in Carlsbad. Several factors, including our proximity to the coast, perfect weather for year-round testing and talent clusters for aerodynamics, material testing and more, support the local sports innovation industry. With around 77 sports innovation and design companies in Carlsbad, which are home to over 2,300 jobs, employment in this sector is over six times the national average.
Meet a few of the companies leading the way in golf innovation in Carlsbad – and around the world:
Callaway Golf is recognized as the world’s largest manufacturer of golf clubs. With around 30,000 employees globally and $4 billion in annual revenue in recent years, Callaway Golf calls Carlsbad home. Through its merger with Topgolf, Callaway helped expand the game into a global entertainment experience.
Carlsbad is also home to golf giant TaylorMade Golf. The company is rooted in innovation, starting with the introduction of the original metal wood over 40 years ago. The company continues to revolutionize the golf product world. TaylorMade has also expanded its offerings to its lifestyle brand “Sun Day Red” in partnership with 15-time major winner Tiger Woods.
The golf scene in Carlsbad continues to grow. Revelyst Golf Technology just announced its new global headquarters in Carlsbad, which will host the company’s teams as well as showrooms and experience spaces. In a company press release, President and GM of Revelyst Golf Technology Jeff Foster said, “Carlsbad is where so much of the game’s innovation happens, and this move puts us right in the middle of it.”
Carlsbad isn’t just where golf’s biggest innovations are made, it’s also where recreational players to competitors enjoy the game. There are 19 golf courses along the 78 Corridor. The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa will also host the NCAA Division 1 Golf Championships through 2028.
With global golf brands choosing Carlsbad as their home base, it’s clear: this is where sports innovation meets lifestyle. Life In Action is here to help job seekers with local talent.
