Vuori 

Headquartered in Carlsbad, Vuori has become one of the fastest-growing performance brands in the country, reaching a $5.5 billion valuation. Inspired by the Southern California coastal lifestyle, the company designs apparel that transitions seamlessly from training to everyday life. With a fabric-first design philosophy and focus on performance and versatility, Vuori’s rapid expansion reflects a broader shift toward apparel that supports movement and a mindful approach to progress grounded in clarity, purpose and resilience under pressure. 

Founder Joe Kudla was inspired by the region’s lifestyle, noting in a New York Times article that he was drawn to, “the laid-back lifestyle and proximity to the beach that Southern California promised.” 

Today, Vuori continues to grow from its home base in Carlsbad, where the coastal environment and active community that first inspired the brand remain central to its identity. Its headquarters was recently recognized by the International Interior Design Association Southern California Chapter as a Calibre Design Award Winner.

Known for its iconic sandals and surf apparel, Reef is headquartered here in Carlsbad. The brand was founded in 1984 by Argentinian brothers Fernando and Santiago Aguerre, who built the company around their shared love for surfing, beach living and life by the ocean. They set out to create shoes that fit their active, coastal lifestyle. 

Today, REEF continues to reflect that same philosophy. With shoes and apparel made for people who move easily between beach, street and everyday adventure along the coast.
