Personalized Support for Small Businesses 

Starting or growing a business comes with plenty of questions. The City’s Small Business Liaison offers free, 30-minute Business Office Hours to help entrepreneurs navigate city processes, understand permitting and zoning requirements, identify grants and financial resources, and connect with local business organizations and regional partners. 

Appointments are available Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at Dove Library and the first Wednesday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Carlsbad Village Association.

Resources to Help Your Business Grow 

The City partners with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce to offer free workshops that help business owners strengthen their operations and leadership skills. Recent sessions have covered topics including leadership development and practical applications for using AI in the workplace.

The Boarding Home brought a board game café to Carlsbad Village after founder Anthony connected with the City’s Economic Development team through Village Voices. That initial conversation led to connections with local programs, resources and partners. Since opening, The Boarding Home has expanded its local vendor network through the Carlsbad Digital Services Hub, strengthened sustainability practices through the Carlsbad Green Business Program and continued growing its community presence. 

The Cove is a coworking and childcare community in Carlsbad designed to help working parents, entrepreneurs and remote professionals focus on their work while staying close to what matters most. The founders, Stephanie and Christie, first connected with the City of Carlsbad’s Economic Development Department when a community survey they conducted identified Carlsbad as the top choice for working families. The City’s Planning team helped identify potential locations and navigate zoning requirements, saving the founders valuable time and potential permitting costs as they brought their vision to life. The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce helped officially launch The Cove with a community ribbon-cutting. Since opening, The Cove has continued to grow with ongoing support from the City and Chamber to help strengthen its connection to the community.
