Building great beginnings

Carlsbad schools are known throughout the region for being top notch. Thirteen of our public schools receive a 9 or a 10 out of 10 rating from greatschools.org. That being said, California school districts don’t always match geographic boundaries so Carlsbad is served by four public school districts: Carlsbad Unified, Encinitas Union, San Dieguito High School and San Marcos Unified. Many of our schools also receive supplementary support through efforts like the Carlsbad Educational Foundation and San Marcos Educational Foundation. Use the school district finder on Great Schools to help you locate district boundaries and schools based on an address.

Not your typical library

Carlsbad supports its own library district and with that, a host of resources available to continuously learn and gain new skills. The eResources available span everything from adding to your technology skillset to doing research on your entrepreneurial journey. We’ve even got resources and apps available to help you learn a new language for your international business trip. Our libraries even have study rooms to reserve to practice presentations out of the office, an Exploration HUB where you can learn how to use a 3D printer and other new tech tools.

A world class network of learning

Nearby public universities are top notch and our business community works with them to make sure their curriculum meets their needs in the workplace. Miracosta Technology Career Institute is located in a city-owned property, training a workforce in skilled trades & manufacturing and the nation’s veteran population particularly loves their advanced security certificate. Our community college system has regional directors for our key innovation industries to match students with employer needs and support employers in continued development of valuable work skills related to their industry. California State University, San Marcos continues to grow their programs in partnership with North County’s business community and University of California San Diego just to the south has an active extension program if you want to add certificates to formal academic training, especially in STEM related fields.
